I’m a big Austin Trout fan. I’ve seen him fight tooth and nail with some of the best fighters in the world. He has 5 losses on his record to date; Jermell Charlo, Jermall Charlo, Jarrett Hurd, Erislandy Lara (2013), and Canelo. If you’re going to have 5 losses, those are some pretty good men to lose to. Welterweight Division Boxers
His majority decision loss to Jermell Charlo was a classic example of what makes him so tough. He’s a craft lefty who’s tough to put down and can continue to steal rounds from anyone. I kept expecting Charlo to turn the jets on and dust Trout but by the 6th round it became clear Charlo was in a dog fight.
It’s a really good test for Gausha. The men share a loss to Lara but other than that Gausha’s record is perfect. Only 10 knockouts in 21 wins but his last fight was a knockout win over Joey Hernandez.
It’s difficult to get overly hype for two 30+ middleweights who appear to be destined as journeymen, but this contest has chess match written all over it.
